'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Bunn and Dusted

Sheffield United goalkeeper Mark Bunn returns to Blackburn Rovers today, following the injury to stopper Paul Robinson.

Bunn, whose Blades career finished with a clean sheet at Bramall Lane, has been recalled by the Premier League side, after the injury to their first choice goalkeeper, is worse than first feared.

With only Jason Brown as back-up, Rovers boss Sam Allardyce opted to recall the 25 year old.

Gary Speed confirmed the departure on BBC Radio Sheffield tonight, and it leaves the Blades with just Ian Bennett and Mihkel Aksalu at the club, until the suspension of Paddy Kenny finishes next month.

Whether cover will be drafted in for the trip to Doncaster Rovers on Saturday is unknown, but Bunn will definitely not be lining up between the sticks.

His Blades career got off to an impressive start, and he received a lot of praise in the first month of the season, which saw his deal extended to the end of the season. A rocky patch followed, and both Bennett and Carl Ikeme were preferred, before Bunn regained his position and dug-out some impressive performances, which included a number of point-winning penalty saves.

Regardless of whether he goes on to be a leading goalkeeper, many Blades will be satisfied with his performances this season.

Thanks Bunny for all the Hard Work! I wont forget his first game when he was dancing around in front of the Kop clapping!!

We soon knocked that out of him!

I wish him well - he saw us through a difficult patch. Wish we could get Kenny back now!!!

Word from a usually reliable source is that Paddy is very fit, has been following a rigorous fitness schedule, has lost weight and put on a lot of upper body muscle (!) Thanks to Bunn for his stint at BDTBL, though I didnt think that after the Scunthorpe debacle, lets hope he doesn't now spend the remainder of the season on the bench.

Hope Paddy's new body muscle is not straight out of a packet!?! Bunn certainly grew in confidence in recent games and sessions on the couch with our female psychologist certainly appear to have done the trick.

rang up this morning to get my tickets for the donny game, whilst on hold i went onto the blades website to see the news regarding bunn to just get through to the booking office and to hang up, thought i'd save the embarassement and the 46 on 2 tickets and the 1 booking fee and spend the time and money on something better.

Nice one, Hull. I must admit, that crossed my mind as well! But Paddy will have learnt that lesson.....won't he?
gloucblade
Ha ha of course he won't!! Still be good to have a keeper that I don't have heart mumours with when I see the opposition shooting from outside the box!!

Blackwell to play again ????

It's all 'Cackwell's fault, GEEEEERRRRRRRRIIIIIHHHHHHMMMMMAAAAAATTTTTT!

Brought in Simmonsen from Stoke on month loan. Sounds like he's going straight into squad too. What's the point of having Bennett at the club if he's never going to play???
Blade1889
Surely a good signing B1889 - we need to have cover in depth and Simonsen is a good keeper.
