Sharp Ready To Rip Up Turf Moor

Sheffield United have reportedly accepted a seven figure sum from Burnley for striker Billy Sharp.

The striker, who enjoyed a lengthy loan spell at Doncaster Rovers last season, and was subject of a 750,000 bid last month, but with a summer of rebuilding supposedly ahead, it appears the bid by Brian Laws' team was too good to refuse.

Burnley, appear to be preparing for life after Steven Fletcher, and also captured the signing of Wolves' Chris Iwelumo yesterday.

Blades boss Kevin Blackwell had stated that the Sheffield-born striker would be in his plans next year, but after 'the club' declared an interest in Daniel Bogdanovic, and are within days of completing the deal, it appears Sharp is surplus to requirements.

How many days are we from this deal with the Maltese publicity signing? Seems like we have been days away for a couple of weeks now? Sharp was great at first when the fans believed a genuine fan would make it but sadly bot to be! If we get good money and offload hendo then get a proven striker to play with ward or creswell we could be ok!
Rather have Bogdanovic than Sharp but surely we can invest this money somewhere else.
Never been a Sharp fan, but would have liked to see what his confidence would have been like after the spell up the road. The Boggy thing must be all about sponsors funding.
wait until he bangs in 20 goals + for burnley this season then you will be a sharp fan biloblade
good deal for the club if they get 7 figures...the way we play sharp would never have looked good in the team, so to get 1m + they done ok for a kid entering last year of a deal..i dont doubt he'll score a lot for them, especially as they will likley play football but as it stands weve hendo (likley to be replaced by bogdanovic) cresswell, evans and ward...burnley could be quite a good team next year inspite of laws
all this talk of hendo going where does people think he going to exactly?
well hes in last year of contract and united have a tendancy to get rid in last years, he's been linked with WBA (never going to happen), qpr among teams and we're signing a tall target man in bogdanovic and are looking to extend cresswells we really need three tall forwards?? cant see the board having three forwards then evans and sharp / ward can you?
Visit Malta must be coming up short on Boggys wages or he would be ours by now.
bovered!!! he's crap anyway!!
just a publicity stunt with no football interest involved at all!!
Bogdanovic will NOT head a ball, and is certainly not a target man.
montys just signed a new deal very pleased with that thought i'd never hear myself say that. Noticed clinton morrison has just been released by coventry may be a good signing for us on the cheap.
Thank god for that! We will not sign a better player all summer, and at last some ambition from the board. A 3 year contract for our player of the season. It would have been a travesty if Monty had gone elsewhere. The core that has been spoken about will be very important next season.
Agree about Monty - never been my favourite player as he is one-dimensional but for whatever reason we always do better with him than without him and he always gives 100%. A good signing in the same way Morgs is but now for some real talent?!!
I've heard all the criticism but can't help selling Bily is a mistake - he IS capable of scoring goals in the way Keith Edwards did.
So Monty is staying then. All the so called experts who professed to know about these things had him gone away up the road weeks ago - with Morgs as well - lets hope these 'experts' are as accurate about Paddy!
burnley fans on their vital site are buzzing with the sharp links. they also make a great point that he has been a massive success everywhere he has been apart from the lane...and labelling us as an awfull uguly team that just punt it long all the time. NOT GOOD TO BE LABELED LIKE THAT BY OTHER CLUBS
Good for them, now lets see the colour of their money.
now boyaz myhill would be a great replacement for paddy and is available for 1.2m
Malta Football say Boggy has now officially signed on a 3 yr deal.
glad monty signed and gave him the three years he asked for 12 months back...why thye had to make such a fuss over offering a loyal player like that 2 years and refusing to budge until he called their bluff is ridiculous..bit of shame for utd there i think - same with morgs as me glou, both these players held talks with other clubs, monts turned down more money at leeds to stay for unted, he said all along (as i say for 12 months) if he got offered three years hed stay- 2 and hed go...and united are paying him more now than they wouldve had to 12 months back - embarrassing behind the scenes at united
micky mouse gleadless..we will end up like the poor relations before long but without spending any money, least them lot spent about 80m in 4 seasons
Gleadless, my point was that once again those who spoke with such authority on the web and in the media that he was as good as at Elland Rd were WRONG, whatever the reason. One reason Monty has been so "loyal" is that frankly he has been well paid for his level of ability up until now. Employers and their employees have to settle on a deal that suits both parties at that time, no one gives away what they dont have to, and as loyalty is a word no longer recognised in Football, as has just been proven with Paddy, perhaps the employer needs to get a bit sharper with their negotiaton.
Pigs spent 80m BFL, and just look where they are now...div 3, no players, still 30m in debt, potential investors running away, chairmen resigning, shareholders revolting, good use of the money eh.
and we're 25m in debt on the football side of things!
Not to the Co-op bank though.
......and there is the semblance of an infrastructure in place.
how the ***** are we 25 in debt when we have spent ***** all and sold off every single star asset for as long as the club have been going? if thats the case then someone is taking money out against the club on the quite side. no different to the reg brearely days now at the lane.
