Speed Looking to Carve out Backroom Staff

New Sheffield United manager Gary Speed is in talks with Plymouth Argyle coach John Carver about joining his coaching staff at Bramall Lane.

The Welshman, 41, has already confirmed that Sam Ellis will be remaining at the club, but sees Carver as a perfect addition to the club, after working under him with Newcastle United.

Carver has also spent time with Leeds United and Toronto FC, but now spends his time as part of Peter Reid's team, but the former Sunderland manager has admitted he won't be standing in his way.

'Sheffield United called me and I have given them permission to have a chat with John.'

im really optomistic with speeds appointmentand he already looks the part and talks a lot of sense. We my have just got the countries most sort after young and upper coming manager in the game. obviouslly if the resilts do come and we get promoted you then have to ask the question are we big enough and ambitious enough to keep hold off him and like wise will have the respect to manage us if other bigger offers come to the table.....suppose that's the big question with all managers these days though. Im dissapointed in speeds decision to keep ellis as his number two but like previouslly stated its his choice nd as supported we NEED to back him 110% now!! he brings a breath of fresh air to the club and fans alike. we are going to be a much better side under speed and i think he will have some good pulling power and contacts to get some quality players in if backed by the board!!! just bought my boro ticket today and renewed interest will be made back into the supporters following. this is my first away game since the playoff final since giving up on the away games.....previous to then only missed 3 away games in 10 years!!!! come on spedo do us proud and deliver where warnock, nobson and blackwell all failed misserably...by getting us promoted, competing well and keep us there!!! UTB & FTL1O!!

Cos he's not good enough for the Prem........according to Brucie, and he demands £25k a week, so as long as Mackams pay his wages he couldnt care less where he plays. Another deluded overpaid footballer. Glad we arent paying his wages.
