SUFC Wilson left frustrated by home draw

SUFC Wilson left frustrated by home draw

Sheffield United boss Danny Wilson was left frustrated after seeing his side drop points at home on Tuesday night.

United were held to a 0-0 draw by Leyton Orient at Bramall Lane, a result that saw them drop to second in League One after taking over at the top at the weekend.

Wilson felt his side were not as fluent as they have been recently but he was also quick to give Orient credit.

Speaking on the Sheffield United official website , Wilson said, 'We always want to win our home matches so not doing so is always frustrating. We weren't as fluent as we have been but you must give Orient credit.

'They flooded the midfield and defence as you would expect and it was extremely difficult for us to breakthrough."

United had chances to win, Ryan Flynn saw an effort comeback off the post, Mike Doyle saw his fierce strike tipped wide and Dominic Poleon on his first start for the club, saw his shot go just wide.

The draw was the first time in five games that United have failed to take maximum points. In recent weeks the sides chasing promotion have all faltered, allowing United to take over at the top of League One and Wilson says he will be more than happy if they can continue their recent form. 'We can talk about a lot of things, but we have returned 13 points from the last 15 available and if we keep returning points at that ratio I will be more than happy,' added Wilson.

The League One table is so tight at the top with just four points separating the top seven in the division and Tuesday night so new leaders for the fourth time in the past week.

United lost top spot in the division to Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday night, who won for the first time in six games, thanks to a winner deep into injury time. They were the only winners in the top six in the division at the start of the evening. After losing just one game in their last twenty, Bournemouth have now lost three in a row. They have slipped from top to seventh in the table in the past week, Coventry the latest side to beat them 2-0.

Managerless Swindon have picked up just one point from six, in their two home games in the past four days. Former boss Kevin Blackwell helping the Blades cause as his struggling Bury won 1-0 at Swindon. After winning eight games in a row, Yeovil have also picked up just one point from their last two games, losing 2-0 at struggling Colchester United on Tuesday night.

After a good win at the weekend, Tranmere Rovers were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Notts County.

Brentford were the only other winners in the top seven at the start of the evening as they won 2-1 at Crawley Town.

It is sure to be a tense finale as United go into their final twelve games of the season.
