SUFC Wilson - No chances taken with Murphy injury

Sheffield United boss Danny Wilson is waiting to find out the extent of the injury that forced Jamie Murphy off after just ten minutes of the game at Stevenage.

Murphy suffered a hamstring injury inside the opening ten minutes and was replaced by youngster Callum McFadzean, with the 19-year-old making his fifth appearance for the club.

Wilson said they were not prepared to take any chances with Murphy, who has only just returned from injury but he would not rule him out of the crucial clash with Brentford next weekend. "He has done his hamstring," Wilson told Radio Sheffield

"He had to come off straight away, we couldn`t gamble with that type of injury. We are hoping he will be available next week but we are not sure."

Murphy has netted twice in nine appearances since signing from Scottish Premier League side Motherwell in the January transfer window and Wilson will be desperate for Murphy to be available for the run in to the season with just nine games remaining.

Despite the defeat at Stevenage being their first in eight games, the blades have now failed to score in three of their last four games. United were recently dealt a blow with fellow striker Diego De Girolamo suffering an injury whilst on international duty. The youngster looks like he could be out for the remainder of the season and Wilson might look to move into the loan window before it closes for the season later this month, if the injury to Murphy is worse than first feared.
