SUFC Morgan - Defeat was cruel

SUFC Morgan - Defeat was cruel

Sheffield United caretaker manager Chris Morgan felt his side didn`t deserve to lose after seeing his side beaten 2-1 on aggregate with a late Yeovil winner at Huish Park.

The blades blew their first leg advantage within five minutes of the start when Kevin Dawson got in behind the United defence to beat George Long.

Yeovil won the tie with five minutes remaining when Ed Upson found himself unmarked to head past Long.

It was harsh on United who had controlled large periods of the game after going behind and only the width of a crossbar denied Murphy a first half equaliser.

Morgan told BBC Radio Sheffield, 'It's cruel. I have said to the players that we don't deserve that, but sometimes you don't get what you deserve. It's the worst way to lose, but we have to take it on the chin and come back to mount another challenge.

'As the game grew, I thought, with the players we had on the pitch, we might sneak one. Did we create enough to win it on the day? Probably not, but the players we've got have given us everything."

United have struggled to find goals in the second half of the season since the sale of Nick Blackman to Reading on transfer deadline day.

Blackman had netted thirteen times for United in the first half of the season.

They have failed to score in nine of their last fifteen games and they have only managed to score more than two goals in one game since his departure.

Rubbish morgs. simply not good enough. too many old hasbeens being paid too much money, time to get rid of the big wage earners - hill, doyle, mcdonald, kitson, porter, mcmahon etc. i would rather see the kids have a go than watch that lot turnout without an ounce of passion for the club. no warnock team would have caved in like that bunch of wasters. no momentum, no passion. we only saw a brief flash of determination for the first half of the swindon game then it was back to the lazy couldnt care less attitude which got danny wilson the sack. another season among the dead men in the third division...cant wait.

Bilbo i thought this site was dead, I don't think Danny did a good job brought in too many old slow journeymen, I don't think Morgs is the man for the job either. Mcabe has made too many mistakes in his choice of managers. We need to get it right this time, don't know who though.

Hi Mick, Not dead yet! We lost our editor after a very brief period which unfortunately co-incided with general lack of interest in the team from the regulars on here. Shame really, it was ticking over nicely. I have to agree with much of Bilbo's post. I saw virtually every game last season and I was constantly disappointed with the lack of fight from certain of the 'experienced' players. I agree that we need to get rid of these overpaid individuals, I too would be happy to see 6 or 7 academy lads blooded next season in a division totally lacking ANY decent footballing teams. From a management point of view, I would get Warnock back TOMORROW, and he would come, make no mistake. Owner wise, I pray the Blades fans dont upset McCabe. He has made many mistakes but he is a Blade and has put many millions of his own money into the club, money he will never get back or ask for. The last thing we want is for him to sell the club off cheap to some dodgy low life far east consortium, then we would be in the brown smelly stuff. The fans need to see some clear decision making very quickly or I fear the near 19000 aerage will suffer badly next season.

It only needs a few fans to get the site going again. Looks like you have an editor now trying to drum up some interest.

I wasn't calling McCabe, and never would, I just think appointing Robson, then giving Blackwell too long in charge plus a few other blips was catastrophic
12/05/2013 14:53:00
we must not lose mccabe, you are right. i'd like to lose doyle, kitson, hill, porter, williams, and a few others though.
15/05/2013 02:10:00
and i would love to see mccall get the managers job, but morgs probably will.
