SUFC Blades kick off pre-season with a win

Sheffield United started pre-season with a 1-0 win at Greenock Moreton.

David Weir saw his win their first game on their Scottish tour thanks to a Chris Porter penalty in the second half.

Weir used 22 players during the game including three trialists.

Danny Grainger, Steven Saunders, and Roy Kayara all played the second half as Weir named different sides in each half.

There were also debuts for Febian Brandy, Sean McGinty and Stephen McGinn who all signed for the club last week.

There was also a welcome return for goalkeeper Mark Howard who has been on the sidelines since last October.

The blades now move on to Cowdenbeath for 3pm kick off on Saturday.

Teams

First half:
Howard, Westlake, Maguire, Hill, Williams, Doyle, McFadzean, McGinn, McDonald, Cresswell, Ironside

Second half:
Willis, Whitehouse, Saunders, Grainger, Collins, Higginbotham, McGinty, Murphy, Kayara, Brandy (McFadzean 82), Porter
