Clough looking to remain unbeaten over busy period

Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough says he is looking to remain unbeaten over the busy festive period.

Having gone four games unbeaten in League One to move out of the relegation zone, United now face four games in eleven days over Christmas and New Year and Clough is looking to extend the unbeaten run into the New Year.

Speaking on Radio Sheffield, Clough said, "We know it is going to be an important time.

"We have four games in such a short space of time with twelve points at stake up until January 1st and we will be looking to get a few points on the board.

"If we can stay unbeaten that would be good and two wins and two draws would be a very good return.

"Not many teams win every game over Christmas with so many games but we will approach them all individually and see what we can get in return."

The blades start their run of four games in eleven games with a trip to Stevenage today in what is a crucial game at the wrong end of the League One table.

United know a win would give them some breathing space above those that occupy the bottom four but Stevenage, who are currently fourth from bottom, know a win would lift them above United.

The blades then have two home games against sides who are also struggling in League One with Oldham Athletic, currently17th and Tranmere Rovers in 20th visiting.

The first game of the New Year sees a trip to play-off chasing Walsall, who visited Bramall Lane last month, sharing the points in a 1-1 draw.
