SUFC Clough - Best performance since I arrived

Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough felt it was the best performance by the side since his arrival as they drew 0-0 at Stevenage.

The blades were much the better side in the game with goalkeeper George Long not having a save to make in the 90 minutes as they stretched their unbeaten run to six games.

Speaking on Blades Player, Clough said, "It was a brilliant performance and the best we have played in the two months I have been here.

"I was delighted with almost every aspect of the game, it was just that elusive goal and we couldn`t have done much more to try and find it away from home.

"When you hit the woodwork twice, you know it isn`t going to be your day."

It could have been so different had either Aidy White or Jose Baxter seen their efforts go in and not come off the woodwork.

Baxter also went close on two other occasions whilst Tony McMahon, Shaun Miller and Neil Collins all had chances to break the deadlock as United dominated for long periods.

The point sees United remain outside of the relegation places and they will now be hoping to continue their improved form when they welcome Oldham Athletic and then Tranmere Rovers to Bramall Lane over the festive period.

He's definitely sorted out the defence. Just need something in the final third and a bit of luck up top wouldn't go amiss either.

NC is right, the only thing missing yesterday was a goal….or 4. Blades totally dominated the entire match, played some 'Weir' football and looked much more confident in truly awful conditions. Collins and Maguire were back to their best, Hill was sound and McMahon got forward at every opportunity. Millers pace and movement scared Borough to death, but he needs something alongside him up front. This MUST be Cloughs priority in January. Jose worked hard and was within a gnats of getting the goal that would have opened the floodgates, if only he had a bit of pace. Doyle gets a fair bit of hammer from the fans on occasion, yesterday he was outstanding, my MOTM by a distance. Confidence is returning, things are settling nicely, the football is back, now all we need is a goalscorer.
