SUFC Clough - We are going out with more belief

Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough says the side are now going out with more belief and confidence.

The blades extended their unbeaten run to six games at the weekend with a draw at Stevenage, a game they dominated and Clough says they are building on a good defensive record recently. "We are going out with more belief," Clough told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"We have gone to difficult places like Cambridge, Stevenage and Orient and we believed we would not lose.

"We were disappointed we did not win at Stevenage on Saturday and that is a good sign.

"Three clean sheets in a row is a great foundation to build on."

Clough arrived at Bramall Lane following the departure of David Weir after just one win in their opening ten games as well as crashing out of both the League Cup and Johnstone`s Paint Trophy to lower league opposition.

United have lost just three times in eleven games since Clough arrived, moving out of the relegation places in League One as well as progressing into the FA Cup Third Round.

Clough will be hoping the side continue their new found self-belief with crucial home games against Oldham Athletic and Tranmere Rovers, who themselves are both in the bottom seven in League One.

The way the defence is playing we are not going to concede so not going to lose. Just got to get someone who can start scoring. Going into Christmas and the leading goalscorer is a central defender says it all really.
