Clough looking to build belief at Bramall Lane

Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough is looking for the fans to stay patient in the games at Bramall Lane, as they look to build on their recent good form over the festive period.

The blades are unbeaten in six games coming into the busy festive period, with the side looking hard to beat.

Four of those six games unbeaten have been on the road and Clough is hoping the side can build on that form at home, having won just one of their last three at Bramall Lane.

Speaking in the Sheffield Telegraph, Clough said, "We are looking good on the road and hopefully we can build a similar sort of belief at Bramall Lane.

"Sometimes it is more difficult to play at home with the expectations of the crowd.

"We just need everyone to be patient, stick with us and we will try and reward them with goals."

The recent revival has seen the blades move out of the relegation zone and with two games in four days at Bramall Lane against sides around them in the table; it is an ideal opportunity to pull away from the danger zone.

Oldham Athletic visit today before Tranmere Rovers come to Bramall Lane on Sunday. Since his arrival in October, Clough has got the defence playing like it did last season, and they are looking hard to break down and it is almost 300 minutes since they last conceded.

Goals continue to prove a problem for the blades. Central defender Harry Maguire continues to lead the goalscoring charts with five goals and they have not scored more than one goal in the league in their last seven games.

Jose Baxter is beginning to find the form that saw Sheffield United sign him from today`s opponents in August.

Baxter has scored in two of the last three games and he will be hoping to continue that form this afternoon. A win for United would see them leapfrog Oldham in the League One table.
