SUFC Clough keen to keep Brayford

Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough says he will try his upmost to keep defender Paul Brayford past the end of his loan.

The fullback has impressed since arriving at Bramall Lane, he has quickly become a firm favourite with the fans, and Clough says he hopes to hang onto Brayford, who also played for him at Burton Albion and Derby County.

Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Clough said, "He knows what we think of him and how we rate him as a player. His teammates and supporters do as well having seen what he can do in his first few weeks with us.

"He has upped the quality in the team and we will try our upmost to make it happen but it will depend on Cardiff."

Brayford was forced to miss the game with Gillingham in midweek with a hamstring injury but he will be back in contention for a place in the side against Bristol City on Saturday having returned to training.

The 26-year-old is on loan at Bramall Lane for the remainder of the season having failed to break into the Cardiff City since his arrival in South Wales from Derby County last summer.
