I watched Sunday`s semi-final onboard at sea via British Forces TV.
I was well impressed with the effort and performance that the team showed.
To be 1-0 up and then 2-1 showed determination and a will to win, especially after Hull equalised, and our swift reply only a minute and a half later!
I thought we dominated for the majority of the game, however, Hull were quick on the break when we had so many players committed, especially in the 90th with a couple of minutes of injury time, and being 4-3 down. I saw how everyone was committed and it was win or lose at that point - so when Hull scored it was disappointing but there wasn`t anything we could have done - either get the equaliser or concede.
To be fair, we have been outstanding in the cup run, against higher league opposition in most of the matches. I did fancy our chances on Sunday, but it wasn`t to be.
Anyway, I blame the Wendy fan we have onboard who came in and watched the match - we were 1-0 up before that!
So now we have to concentrate on the rest of the league games and re-affirm our position within the League One table. It would be nice to keep moving up, even though we are mathematically still open for the last play off place, it would be good to have a good run even if we don`t achieve that.
I had heard that NC is looking at keeping hold of a few of the loan players we have on the books, and in particular I wouldn`t mind keeping hold of Brayford, Coady, and Harris. These three are all attacking players and get themselves forward making a nuisance of themselves at every opportunity.
I am sure we`ll hear how things are progressing with contracts during the close season, but I reckon NC will have a much stronger squad pushing for promotion next season if we don`t reach that last play-off spot.
Anyway, good performance lads!
