'If It's Football, It's Vital'

No Hesitation For Alcock

New signing Craig Alcock has said he had no hesitation in deciding to join Sheffield United once he knew we had an interest in him.

Following his release by Peterborough United over the summer, the 26 year old versatile defender has already admitted he can't wait to get going at Bramall Lane, and realising that we are a club on the up once more, he understands the pressure and expectation that will come with that.

Speaking to the Official Site he explained.

'Once I knew of Nigel Clough's interest I didn't want to go anywhere else other than Sheffield United. There were other clubs interested but this opportunity is a tremendous one for me personally and one I wasn't going to let pass me by. It's a huge club with excellent tradition and a burning ambition to be playing Championship football as soon as possible.'

Alcock goes on to say that pressure he understands well from his time at Peterborough where have been chasing promotion as well, but he's confident that United can reach our aim in the coming campaign and hopefully go up automatically avoiding the need for an extended season and the play offs.

With Clough already praising his versatility, Alcock knows that will come in handy in terms of helping him to greater pitch time, but he admits at his age now he'd like to nail down one spot - right back - and become known as a master of it, rather than a utility man, but whatever happens he knows we have a good squad and he knows he has to work hard and impress and then take the chances as they come along to keep him involved.

This site is looking for a new editor but would also like your blogs, so if a fan can offer us a genuine opinion from someone that supports Sheffield United we would love to share it with the masses!
