Long Loaned Out

Long Loaned Out

In goalkeeping terms George Long is incredibly young at only 20, however he has played over 70-games for Sheffield United already.

When making his debut in 2011 he became the youngest ever player to appear for the club, and has gone on to make 73-appearances in total for the Blades now playing for England at U20 and now a regular in the squad at U21 level too.

Since Nigel Clough has taken over as boss though Long has managed only one appearances under him since February with Mark Howard being selected as his preferred no.1, leaving Long short of games to continue his, already rapid, development.

As such it has been decided that the 20-year-old needs to go out on loan and the Blades have sanctioned a loan spell away from Bramall Lane with him joining league 2 outfit Oxford United in a loan capacity until January.

Regular first-team football for half a season will do Long the world of good.
