Clough Not Very Impressed
Manager Nigel Clough has admitted he was disappointed with both the performance and the result in our final pre season friendly of the summer against York.
A two nil defeat wasn't how we wanted to round off the pre season campaign, and speaking to the Official Site the gaffer had to admit that there were very few positives that came out of the game, other than teenager Harrison McGahey's showing.
'There weren't too many positives, apart from Harrison. Forget about his honest mistake for York's second goal, he will learn from that. He's 18 years old, he won headers, got tight and wanted to get out and press. We had two good games this week, against Huddersfield and Fenerbahce, but we were disappointing at York, the games caught up with us. We had tired legs and tired minds, our decision making was unbelievably poor.'
Clough goes on to say that it's difficult for him to put his finger on why we were so poor, because it was all over and it affected everyone really. Admitting that the two previous games were good efforts and left us tired, he also said we were carrying a few knocks and it's ideal because he would've liked more to get closer to 90 minutes to help on the fitness front, but it's a case of managing them and hoping the knocks clear up at the minute ahead of the big kick off.
