April PotM Nomination - Clarke (Sheff Utd)

April PotM Nomination - Clarke (Sheff Utd)

The April nominations for the Sky Bet League 1 Player of the Month Award are:

Leon Clarke (Sheffield United) - striker
When he is on form and infused with belief, there are very few EFL strikers who can match the much-travelled frontman. Finally free of injuries, his six goals in six games came in all varieties - headers, volleys and sweeping finishes.

Ricky Holmes (Charlton Athletic) - winger
Embarked upon a personal goal of the month competition in April with a series of stunning solo efforts. Free-kicks as well as cutting in from the left and shooting into the far corner are the specialities of Charlton`s attacking driving force.

Mark Marshall (Bradford City) - winger
Rediscovered his early season zest with a series of sparkling displays as Bradford secured a play-off berth. Equally happy running outside defenders or cutting inside, his two assists and two goals included a lovely strike against Bury.

David Wheater (Bolton Wanderers) - central defender
Scored in each of his side`s final two games to make it nine for the season as promotion was clinched - a superb return for a defender who fulfilled his primary role manfully as part of a rearguard which conceded just two goals in seven games.

Winners will be announced on Friday 5th May 2017.
