Chesterfield Anger At Blades' Brooks U-Turn

Chesterfield Anger At Blades' Brooks U-Turn

According to Sky Sports, Chesterfield had signed off on paperwork sent to them regarding a loan deal for David Brooks but Sheffield United didn't and the Spireites have now been told he'll not be spending time at the Proact Stadium after all.

Reportedly part of the agreement in the deal that saw Ched Evans return to United from Chesterfield, Brooks' performances in the Toulon Tournament with Wales have brought about a re-think on his loan.

Chesterfield, who dropped into League Two last season, have been putting together a new squad under Gary Caldwell and had hoped to include midfielder Brooks, 19, in their plans. However, Chesterfield director Ashley Carson has revealed United are 'reneging on the agreement.'

Carson was quoted by Sky Sports: 'We had a verbal agreement in place and the paperwork for the loan was completed at our end, so we expected David Brooks to join us once he had returned from Toulon. We were looking forward to welcoming the player to the Proact but will now have to bring in another midfield player to take his place. Sheffield United have their reasons for reneging on the agreement and there is nothing we can do about it, unfortunately.'

Brooks, if he doesn't remain as part of United's first team squad for the coming Championship season, could head to a club above League Two level, reports Sky Sports.

Definitely playing away from Bramall Lane next season will be defender Graham Kelly. The 19 year old left back has joined Port Vale on a one year contract with the option of a second at Vale Park.

A loan agreement has also taken United midfielder Ben Whiteman, 21, who had a spell at Mansfield last season where he scored seven goals in 23 appearances, to Doncaster.

He'll spend an initial six months at the Keepmoat Stadium.
