Wilder Talks Pre Season & Brayford

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has been talking about pre season preparations and the future of John Brayford.

With the squad officially returning for pre season training this week, Wilder praised the players for the manner of how they reported back because he feels they are in better condition already this year than they were last season during our record breaking League One triumph.

Speaking to the Official Site he explained.

'We're in a better place now than we were 12 months ago and that's because of the work we put into the players over the course of last season. The players understand now about how we train and what the rules are. But nothing really changes around the structure, the balls will always be out early. I tell the players everyday there can be no shortcuts in pre-season, it's a team game packed with team situations, but during pre-season you almost have to be an individual to make sure you're right for when the when the action begins.'

He went on to say that players know what's required of them and few ever really let themselves go during their holidays thesedays.

'It's tough there is no hiding from that fact, we push the players, we expect them to push themselves, but without being silly and getting injured. I want the players to enjoy working hard, there is no substitute for the hard yards, but it has to be interesting and enjoyable and we will make sure it will be. I'm just glad I'm not doing it!'

Wilder also confirmed that John Brayford was free to leave the club this summer.

Having spent most of last season out on loan at Burton Albion with Nigel Clough, he returned to Shirecliffe this week along with the rest of the squad, but Wilder has encouraged him to move on.

'I've spoken to John and he understands he's available for transfer. We have continual dialogue with all the players, both those in and out of the team. John played his football away from Bramall Lane last season and did well. But we are trying to strengthen in that area and I don't see him as part of the plans.'

Adding.

'He is our player though and if he doesn't move on then he will remain in the building and be treated properly as a Sheffield United player.'
