Evans Keen To Contribute

Having made a recovery from the ankle surgery that has sidelined him in September, Sheffield United striker Ched Evans is hoping to play his part in the season run in.

Having undergone the knife following the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Evans returned to full training and completed his first 90 minutes in the match against Preston at the end of the last month.

With more work under his belt in training, he met with the media as we build up to Leeds United clash on Saturday and he told the Official Site that he was relishing the possibility of playing a much greater role again now as we look to finish the campaign off in style.

'I still believe I can make an impact this season, but it's about remaining patient. We've got a lot of good strikers at the club but sometimes things happen, and it could give me that opportunity. I just need a chance now, a lot of the lads in the squad have had a chance. I did OK in the FA Cup against Preston and hopefully I might feature at Leicester in the next round.'

With ankle issues hampering him in the opening months of the campaign, he went on to say that he felt the surgury has done the trick and he feels fit and fine again now.

'The surgery certainly feels like it's been a success. I was literally functioning at 60% before, I couldn't shoot or sprint properly which was frustrating. The rehabilitation has gone to plan, apart from an infection post-surgery. The physios have done a great job with me and I've not had to be rushed back because of strength we have in the striking department.'
