Blades Progress After Five Goal Thriller

Queens Park Rangers
2 - 3
Sheffield United

Loftus Road

Attendance: 5,780

Sheffield United booked a place in round 4 of the FA Cup but not before leaving the visiting support biting their nails.

Three goals in three second half minutes proved vital in the game, induced by Jamie Ward's introduction on 67 minutes. In under a minute, the former Chesterfield forward met Quinn's ball to fire low past Cerny and double the Blades lead after Lee Williamson had put the Blades in front on 18 minutes.

Within a minute of the restart Ward found space on the right once again, and this time picked out Cresswell in the middle who netted his third Blades goal, and second in successive games.

The chaos didn't end there, as home fans jeered Paul Hart's men, the Hoops were given a penalty thanks to the hand of Derek Geary. Akos Buzsaky stepped up and scored with a well placed penalty into the corner.

Darius Henderson replaced Cresswell with fifteen minutes remaining on his comeback from injury but it was the home side who fired the next blow. Buzsaky this time turning provider, as his free-kick was headed home by Jamaican Damion Stewart.

Mark Bunn was on hand late on to make two important saves, before the referee eventually brought the tie to an end leaving the majority of the 5,070 fans venting their anger at manager Hart.

Bunn, Geary (Walker) Morgan, Seip, Taylor, Williamson (Ward), Harper, Montgomery, Quinn, Evans, Cresswell (Henderson).

Little, Bennett, France, Stewart.

Vital Boxing - Whyte v Browne Weigh-In

the club better treat wardy with abit of respect otherwise he will be gone in the summer for sure. If the club can't see the potential here then they never will. On the transfer front if we could sign mcsheffery for 750k as reported, get naughton back at the club with a view to a permanent transfer as his spurs career is never going to get going anytime soon, bring in commons who is unsettled at derby and maybe a cheeky bid for lucas neil who is subject to a 750k bid from the turks which everton on considering. Ok his wages will be a massive factor but he would fill the killa gap if he does go and would be an awsome signing for us. If the club can be competative and ambitious im quitely confident we might be all smiling come may.

Very interesting Laws has just offered 1.75m for Killa and he's turned them down!! Apparantly we accepted the offer!!!

I don't think Lucas Neill is going to come to the Lane. He gets champions league football at Galatasaray. I am mega excited about Mcsheffrey though, always rated him.

lucas neill??? the ultimate football mercanary...turned down a move to liverpool (who got to CL final) to get 20k more a year at WHU! No chance - we cannot afford the tansfer fee or his 40k wages...i think commons is heading to wolves, spurs wont sell KN but we may get him on loan - still a long shot but think mcsheffrey is worth a gamble - hes not played much in a couple of years but i think hed do well with a run in the team....OF course united will hvae accepted the offer - too good to turn down as we'd get 1.4m once leeds had taken their slice...he wont go there though as they'll go down - he'll go everton, bolton in the summer or new promoted club

Lucas Neil!! Overrated, overpaid, overpromoted, overweight. And of course the club accepted the offer from Burnley, 1.75m for a player who has no intention of staying with the club is dream money.

bfl commons would be a great signing but we cannot afford a) the tranfer fee and b) his wages...he joined derby on a bosman and just as they dropped out of the prem, he must be on a crackin g wage - way beyond our means...Lucas Neill has joined galatasary...i still think its a shame we never maed a move for richard wood...for me i think that the squad is ok, id like to see a decent left sided player in then cresswell can be back up forward to any combo of hendo evans liek to see wardy given a go up front off hendo but think thatll only happen if kyle n comes in .. if they club has any money for me it should go on wide left position
14/01/2010 11:38:00
i never said it wasn't good money nor the right thing to do....but i do think with relation to what he wants we should offer him a deal that reflects his price tag as we are just chucking 3m down the pan by being stubbon. get him on a new improved 25k a week contract and sell him for 5m in the summer..not exactlly rocket science now is it. As for the lucas neil comment. I know people's views may differ but he would add that neededexperience, strength and premiership quality for a bargin snip price. Lets be fair if we could do something regards to his wages a player like him would be worth at least 6-7m in this transfer window. He's a bargin at 750k and can't see him wanting to move his family to turkey.
