Sheffield United suffered play-off heartache once again as they went down 2-0 at Yeovil Town, 2-1 on aggregate.

Goals from Kevin Dawson and Ed Upson were enough for Yeovil to overturn a first leg deficit and book their place at Wembley.

Dawson gave the home side the lead inside five minutes. A good passing move eventually found Dawson, who got in behind Matt Hill and he gave George Long no chance.

Joe Edwards almost gave the home the lead on aggregate but he couldn`t beat Long.

United recovered from the early goal and controlled the game as it headed towards half time. Joe Murphy forced Marek Stech into a good save and he came even closer to equalising when his shot hit the crossbar.

He also had a shot deflected wide for a corner and from the resulting corner, Chris Porter headed onto the roof of the net.

Paddy Madden had a great chance to put Yeovil further ahead early in the second half, as United struggled to create the chances they had in the first half.

Harry Maguire then came close to scoring at each end. He headed wide for United and then nearly turned a cross into his own net.

Yeovil striker James Hayter then missed a great chance to put Yeovil ahead in the tie when he headed wide from close range.

Ed Upson made no mistake soon afterwards when another cross into the middle found him in space and he headed past and hapless Long.

United had no response and Yeovil almost gave themselves some breathing space when Sam Foley fired just wide.

The blades must now start planning for a third season in League One as they look for a new manager.

the miserable home attendance and poor away following must send a message to the club. the fans lack any confidence in the team or management, beaten by a little team of cast offs says it all really. get neil back fast.
