Blades end Millers unbeaten run

Sheffield United

Attendance: 21,529

Referee:

Sheffield United beat Rotherham United 1-0 in a dramatic finish at Bramall Lane.

Ben Davies scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot after Craig Morgan had been adjudged to have fouled Harry Maguire in the penalty area.

It was a fantastic win for Sheffield United with manager Nigel Clough resting a number of players ahead of the FA Cup semi-final against Hull City this weekend.

The defeat for Rotherham brought to an end their sixteen match unbeaten run and they now look almost certain to be amongst the play-off places this season.

Great performance from our reserves and kids. I thought we could be in for a drubbing when I saw the team line up. Young Dimaio had a stunning game. He was always in space, always wanted the ball and seldom wasted it. Terry Kennedy was excellent alongside Harry, who was outstanding and TOTALLY dominated the 'freescoring' Millers strikers. Otis Khan came on and terrified his full back with his pace then a 16yr old Scougall look alike came on and played like he had been in the first team all season! I had expected fast attacking wing play and sharp pass and move from the Millers, what we got was continual long ball hoofing and attempted bullying and fouling. They never looked like scoring. Once again Steve Evans proved to the listening public in the post match interview that he has no class whatsoever. Shame, but I wish them all the best in the playoffs. Ever since SUFC actively helped Rotherham out with loan players at no cost back in their dark days of ground problems and bankruptcy I have a soft spot for them, shame someone hasn't informed Evans of the links between the clubs, he might have been less grudging with his comments about our Wembely trip last night.

hey glouc, thought their manager evans let himself and all the millers fans down with his childish outburst. heard him a few times bemoaning the officials. amazing how he had already seen the penalty decision twice before he came on radio Sheff. defo a pen. toy town are getting up themselves, the hoof ball they play reminds me of the worst bassett days. i have still not seen anything decent in this division. Harry was brilliant, never missed a header. Disappointed with rotherham, and whats paul walker going on about rotherhams big game players? Only big game they play in is against the Blades, and they failed at that.

Hi glouc, I have been struggling to get any time on here recently with work commitments. Just to let you know, I am calling it a day on the site at the end of the season. I cannot give it the necessary time I would like.
