Sheffield Utd 1-1 Notts County
Sheffield United had to be content with a point at Bramall Lane against Notts County on Friday night.
Having been a goal down at half time, and moving late into the game, a point against a side unbeaten on the road as Notts County are, in the 1-1 draw, isn't the worse possible outcome.
Particularly after a poor first half, which saw the Blades booed off!
We didn't threaten too much in the first half, with Michael Higdon heading over and Jose Baxter's effort safely, and easily, taken by Notts County 'keeper Roy Carroll.
Mark Howard though had to pull off a save to keep out Gary Jones' effort, which resulted in a corner. From this Howard's 'flapping' at the ball allowed Mike Edwards (31) to put Notts County ahead just after the half hour mark.
From just six-yards out Chris Basham had a chance to level by getting onto the end of Jamal Campbell-Ryce's cross his effort was saved by the legs of Northern Ireland 'keeper Carroll.
Had it not been for Jay McEveley's defending, when he blocked Stephen McLaughlin's effort, saved us from going two-nil down and that proved the turning point as Jamie Murphy (76) headed past Carroll, with a looping effort, just a couple of minutes later.
A leg kept an effort out earlier and late on Baxter was denied a winner for us by the foot this time of Carroll as the game ended in a one-one draw.
